Indigenous-Led Community Engagement

Indigenous-led community engagement is defined, articulated and executed by Indigenous peoples, for Indigenous peoples.

Ethelo supports the sovereignty and self-determination of Indigenous communities with software and services that enable effective and meaningful self-government. Our solutions adapt to recognize the diversity of each community’s unique composition and protocols.

We can help with graphic design, UX, advertising and other capacity-building when needed. We are proud to work in service of Indigenous communities. Your community will always direct and sign off on all elements of this work.

“When you want to have deep and meaningful engagement, and you want to have buy-in from administration and the community, then Ethelo is a helpful tool.”

Squamish Nation Director of Finance

Our Work Together

Budgeting and Policy Decisions

The Squamish Nation used Ethelo to consult their community on their annual budget. The platform both educated residents about the complex financial choices involved and included them in decisions that determine the future of their Nation.

Clean Energy Planning

The Haíɫzaqv Nation has used Ethelo as a key part of their clean energy engagement series, as well as a spawn on kelp settlement process. They continue to use the platform to broaden community engagement as they work toward self-governance.

Climate Action Planning

Nunatsiavut Nation is using Ethelo to create Climate Action Plans for each of its five communities that all residents can stand behind. By including everyone in the process, these plans will help the communities hit key GHG reduction targets and start generating revenue through clean power generation

I'm particularly proud of this community-led initiative. Giving voice to our people is important, and I'm really excited that this is going to set the table for our children's tomorrows, while also creating a shovel-ready platform to unlock funding that'll help us move towards energy sovereignty.

The communities that form teams to engage are the successful ones....What it comes down to it that we'd like to do a good project, and we'd like to have lots of support, and we'd like to make sure it's successful, and a necessary part of that truly is to connect and build that buy-in with the community.
