Bringing Ethelo’s Decision Engine to the Blockchain

Future, a decentralized organization on the Solana blockchain, is dedicated to improving blockchain governance. In 2022, Future entered its new Insights application into Colosseum’s Radar Hackathon, DAO & Network State track — using the first private release of the Ethelo API.

This marked the first time Ethelo’s decision engine was integrated into a Web3-native application.

Challenges

Blockchain communities need governance tools that are decentralized yet rigorous.

Existing decision-making tools for DAOs lacked transparency and advanced scenario analysis.

Sensitive member data must remain secure within blockchain ecosystems.

Process

Future built a custom front-end interface connected to the Ethelo API.

Users could set up projects with simplified parameters: issues, options, and criteria.

Votes were collected by Future’s own database system, anonymized, and sent to Ethelo’s engine.

Ethelo analyzed inputs and returned results in real time.

The system preserved Solana’s decentralized ethos while providing the rigor of Ethelo’s algorithm.

Results

Future successfully demonstrated blockchain-native collective decision-making.

The app allowed DAOs to deliberate on governance questions with clarity, while ensuring sensitive participant data stayed within Future’s system.

The project received recognition at the Hackathon and highlighted the potential for expanding Ethelo’s API use cases in blockchain contexts.

Impact

The integration created a pathway for Web3 governance to access advanced decision support.
